Bellaforte Roofing Tiles Installed on Homes for Our Troops Project in Georgia
KANSAS CITY, KAN. - All hands were "on deck" — the roof deck, that is — during the weekend of February 20-21 as DaVinci Bellaforté synthetic roofing tiles were installed on the new home of Cpl. Joshua Lindsay. As part of the Build Brigade coordinated by the non-profit group Homes for Our Troops, the roof was installed on the specially-adapted home for Lindsay in Cummings, Ga.
Lindsay, a paraplegic as a result of an attack on his Army battalion in Iraq, in 2005, was on site to watch the work as his home was constructed.
"I'm overwhelmed with the outpouring of support I've received from Homes for Our Troops, its sponsoring companies and the volunteers in our area," says Lindsay, who receives ongoing physical therapy for his spinal cord injuries. "Watching the roof go up overhead was a very moving experience. It completes the home so perfectly and complements the overall design that the Homes for Our Troops people have developed for my house. The peace-of-mind that will come from having a home designed to accommodate my physical limitations is amazing."
Roofer Terry Williamson, a DaVinci Masterpiece Contractor, and several of his co-workers and family members, donated their time and effort to help install the Bellaforté tiles on the home. "This project allowed me to give back something to a person who has served our country and given so much of himself for my freedoms," says Williamson, owner of Terry Williamson Roofing in Buford, Ga. "We install hundreds of roofs each year, but this is the one project that means the most to me and my co-workers.
"I'm grateful that DaVinci sponsors Homes for Our Troops and allowed us to be a part of this important Build Brigade event. We got so involved in the project that we helped with the framing of the house and came back several days after the weekend to complete the work. The volunteer effort that went into the construction of this home was inspiring."
The patented snap-fit, self-locating Bellaforté roofing tiles were selected for Lindsay's home because of their long-term low maintenance aspects and 50-year warranty. The Villa color of the synthetic roofing tiles brings shades of gray to Lindsay's home that replicate authentic slate tiles.
Bellaforté roofing tiles include an integrated rain gutter, leading edge tab and rain dam, in an authentic 12-inch slate profile. The Bellaforté slate roofing tiles have achieved some of the strictest testing ratings in the country, including the Miami Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) and Florida Building Code (FBC) qualifications. Bellaforté tiles will also be donated to Homes for Our Troops project homes this year in Kansas and Missouri. Additional roofing products from DaVinci will be used on project homes in Colorado and Oregon.
Bellaforté roofing tiles use twenty percent less material than traditional synthetic and natural slate shingles, saving resources and reducing the tile weight. A square of Bellaforté roofing tile weighs just 185 pounds, helping reduce both installation time and landfill load due to reduced construction waste.
Available in two single-color blends (Slate Black and Slate Gray) and two multi-color blends (Villa and Verde), as well as DaVinci EcoBlend colors. Each Bellaforté tile has been designed to meet the highest standards for wind, fire and impact. In the Bellaforté product line, VariBlends are available in Verde with varying hues of green, and in Villa, which uses multiple hues of gray to provide the classic slate look.
