Bellaforté Synthetic Roofing Tiles Achieve Miami Dade Notice of Acceptance
KANSAS CITY, KAN. – DaVinci Roofscapes®, the leader in synthetic roofing tiles, has earned a Miami Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA)* for their patented Bellaforté® slate product line. The roofing tiles, which already meet the Florida Building Code (FBC) qualifications, have met wind resistance testing of up to 175 mph during independent laboratory testing. Category 5 hurricanes have sustained winds greater than 155 mph during severe weather conditions.
“Catastrophic damage is expected with a Category 5 hurricane like Andrew or Camille,” says Ray Rosewall, president and CEO of DaVinci Roofscapes. “When properly installed, Bellaforté roofing tiles can withstand such extreme weather and help protect a structure and its contents.
“The roof is one of four key vulnerable areas of a home — along with windows, doors and garage doors — that allow air pressure to build up in a home. When constructed with certified impact-resistant products in all four of these areas, a home or business should be able to remain standing with minimal damage after a hurricane.”
Rosewall points out that even homeowners and business owners who have invested in impact-resistant products should always follow evacuation instructions by local authorities. “Hurricane-resistant products are created to protect a structure, not the lives inside,” says Rosewall. “Using Bellaforté roofing tiles can help increase the chances that a structure remains intact during a storm. However, because of the potential for severe flooding, power outages and other dire situations related to a major hurricane, people should always evacuate and follow directions from police.”
The NOA issued to Bellaforté slate roofing tiles was presented under the applicable rules and regulations governing the use of construction materials. The documentation submitted by DaVinci Roofscapes has been reviewed by the Building Code Compliance Office (BCCO) and accepted by the Building Code and Product Review Committee to be used in Miami Dade County and other areas where allowed by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Bellaforté slate roofing tiles has also been designed to comply with the FBC, including the High Velocity Hurricane Zone of the Florida Building Code.
Bellaforté on the Roof
Bellaforté synthetic tiles incorporate several patented features, including an integrated rain gutter, leading edge tab and rain dam, in an authentic 12-inch slate profile. The roofing tiles are self-aligning both vertically and horizontally for fast installation.
Available in slate black and slate gray, each Bellaforté tile has been designed to meet the highest standards for wind, fire and impact.
Bellaforté roofing tiles are also available in award-winning DaVinci’s EcoBlend® colors, which have been rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council as a “cool roof” that reflect and emit the sun’s heat back to the sky instead of transferring it to the building below. According to the Cool Roof Rating Council, “coolness” of a roof is measured by two properties, solar reflectance and thermal emittance. Cool roofs can save energy and reduce global warming mitigation, improve homeowner comfort, and help reduce urban heat island effect and smog.
Roofing tiles in the Bellaforté product line use twenty percent less material than traditional synthetic and natural slate shingles, saving resources and reducing the tile weight. A square of Bellaforté roofing tile weighs just 185 pounds, helping reduce both installation time and landfill load due to reduced construction waste. The tiles are 100 percent recyclable and come with a 50-year limited warranty.
All DaVinci Roofscapes products (including DaVinci Slate, Shake, Fancy Shake and Bellaforté product lines) utilize state-of-the-art UV stabilizers, have passed extensive industry testing and are easy to install. Tiles come pre-bundled for hassle-free installation and resist curling, cracking and fading, mold, algae, fungus and insects under normal conditions. Additionally, DaVinci roofing tiles resist water absorption, which eliminates freeze-thaw issues and allows for installation in all weather conditions.
DaVinci Roofscapes has manufactured award-winning synthetic slate and shake roofing since 1999. The polymer roofing tiles are virtually maintenance free and far more cost effective than the natural product. DaVinci leads the industry in tile thickness, the tile width variety and the greatest selection of subtle earth-toned colors. DaVinci proudly makes its products in America and is a member of the National Association of Home Builders, the Cool Roof Rating Council and the U.S. Green Building Council.
