DaVinci Roofing Tiles Approved for Commercial Use
KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Mayor Karen Messerli and the City Counsel of Lee’s Summit, Mo. recently voted to allow DaVinci Roofscapes® synthetic slate and shake roofing tiles to be installed on all future commercial projects. The decision removes a previous restriction that allowed only concrete tile used on roofs of commercial projects.
“There are a multitude of reasons why DaVinci roofing tiles are a sensible option for commercial projects in Lee’s Summit,” says Ray Rosewall, president and CEO of DaVinci Roofscapes. “DaVinci roofing tiles are made right here in Kansas City with state-of-the-art UV stabilizers embedded in the polymer chemistry to create a durable synthetic roofing tile that is backed by a limited 50-year warranty. The virtually maintenance-free roofing materials are ideal for commercial applications because they resist curling, fading and cracking under normal conditions. In addition, the roofing tiles require no treatment and resist mold, algae, fungus and insects under normal conditions.
“Impervious to freeze/thaw cycles, DaVinci roofing tiles are more cost effective than natural slate and shake shingles. They have superior color fade resistance with color throughout each tile for long-term durability. Combined, these attributes make them an exceptionally good value for projects in the Lee’s Summit area.”
In order to be considered for the waiver by the leadership in Lee’s Summit, DaVinci Roofscapes had to first show compliance with International Code Council – Evaluation Services (ICC-ES) for its products. An evaluation report was presented to the City Counsel presenting the positive findings of ICC-ES as to the compliance with code requirements of DaVinci roofing tiles. Evaluation reports are used extensively by architects, engineers, contractors, specifiers, and others in the building industry who have an interest in making sure products and systems meet building code requirements.*
According to Rosewall, there are at least two retail buildings under construction in Lee’s Summit with six more planned that will install DaVinci roofing tiles as a result of the action by the Mayor and City Council.
“We believe the leaders of Lee’s Summit have recognized that the independent testing results and real life performance by our roofing tiles makes them a good investment for commercial projects,” says Rosewall. “All DaVinci roofing tiles are rated Class A for fire retardance, Class 4 for impact resistance, and have the highest ratings for straight line wind testing at 110 mph. These are exceptionally high standards for a roofing product to meet and we look forward to DaVinci roofing tiles being used in Lee’s Summit.”
DaVinci Roofscapes has manufactured award-winning synthetic slate and shake roofing since 1999. The engineered polymer roofing tiles are far more life cycle cost effective than the natural product. DaVinci leads the industry in tile thickness, the tile width variety and the greatest selection of subtle earth-toned colors. For additional information call 1-800-328-4624 or visit our website.
