From the Architect’s Corner – From Spec to Finish
It is always exciting to see the projects you work on go from idea to reality! Last fall the architect on this job contacted me to discuss using DaVinci Shake on a project in Nags Head, North Carolina. They needed a product with a strong wind rating and also wouldn't be affected by the climate of a coastal town. As the discussions evolved we determined that they would need a very dark shake color to best fit the surroundings. After viewing all color options, the architect decided to customize a shake blend using Slate Gray, a color traditionally used in our slate products. The roof was installed over the winter by a longtime contractor (look for Featured Project to come!) and the custom shakes look amazing!
