Inspiration from Colorful Contest Finalists

Philip Atkins, a homeowner in Lima, Ohio, was selected as a 2013 finalist with his entry under the title of “The Little Aberdeen Cottage that Could.” His entry explained how he envisioned a colorful Aberdeen roof on his English cottage-style home along with subtle color changes in other exterior products. Holly Ludwig Roark, a homeowner in Owensboro, Ky., was another finalist who captured the attention of the judges. Roark submitted a picture of her home’s exterior under the title of “My OLD Kentucky Home” along with a description of her two-story home. Her entry explained how she fell in love with her older home at first sight, but the spark was now gone. Roark asked for help in bringing new life to her old Kentucky home with support from the contest.
Another finalist, Russ Wade of Hoover, Ala., submitted a picture of his home’s exterior under the title of “Shake Me Out of My Comfort Zone” along with a description of his home. Wade’s entry explained how he needed guidance and designer support to provide him with the courage to “shake up” the colors on his 1-1/2 story neutral-colored home.
