New Nature Crafted Collection for Synthetic Shake Roofing

Just like nature. That’s the idea behind the new collection of three synthetic shake shingle colors that is now available from DaVinci Roofscapes. The Nature Crafted Collection includes realistic, nature-inspired colors for our composite shake products including Aged Cedar, Mossy Cedar and Black Oak.

Each new color reflects different progressive aging processes found on real cedar roof shingles. The Nature Crafted Collection captures the look of a moment and retains it for decades.

“The DaVinci Nature Crafted Collection is our most ambitious foray into color development in our company’s history,” says Ray Rosewall, president and CEO of DaVinci Roofscapes. “Our proprietary process technology enables us to recreate the natural warmth and softness of a patina previously only created by time and exposure to the elements.”

The realistic-looking colors on the synthetic shake tiles provide homeowners with the ability to gain the specific natural color they desire for roofing tiles without the hassles of dealing with real wood. The Nature Crafted Collection is available on all DaVinci Multi-Width and Single-Width Shake composite roofing tiles.

The DaVinci composite shake products have a lifetime limited warranty and will not split, crack, curl or fade. Each tile has been crafted to resist fire and impact, along with high winds, mold, algae, fungus and insects. The cedar shake alternative tiles come in both wavy and straight grains throughout each synthetic shake tile to achieve an authentic wood look.

Capturing Nature

Research, time and attention have been dedicated to the development of the Nature Crafted Collection to assure a unique variety of colors appealing to homeowners nationwide.

“We had our teams scanning the country to identify any colors that may be missing from our current selections,” says Rosewall. “This allowed us to identify three distinct ‘aged’ cedar palettes with different tones.

“In most cases when real wood has aged to the point where these beautiful patinas appear, the cedar itself begins to deteriorate as a roofing material. We have captured those natural colors and married them up with our synthetic shakes to offer long-term performance without the worry of failing roof materials.”

Three Nature-Inspired Colors

The new Aged Cedar color reflects a burnt reddish cedar tone. This color is generally found when there’s a transition from a new cedar shake roof into the weathered deeper tone.

Mossy Cedar features a damp, greenish character. While in real cedar roof shingles this is achieved by moss and lichen that are not good for the longevity of the roof, the color is one that people desire for their natural-looking shake roofs. The Mossy Cedar color captures that tone while taking away worries about the durability of the roof.

Finally, the new Black Oak color reminds people of natural cedar roof shingles that have been saturated with moisture and mold for many years. The color tells the story of dark, aged cedar on a home. Some people love this color, but the decaying natural cedar truly is not practical for a roof. Now, by recreating the mature, almost black bark coloring, homeowners have the mature-looking cedar color they want but with the durability of a composite shake.

“People who truly appreciate the natural aesthetic that comes with the aging of a cedar shake tile will find the new colors in the Nature Crafted Collection very realistic,” says Rosewall. “The hues and tones replicated on these tiles are ‘consistently inconsistent’ … much like Mother Nature makes them. The colors in the collection allow people to have the look and character of naturally aged cedar roofs but with the performance features that are missing in the real cedar product.”
