New Roof an Answer to Many Prayers
KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Since 1881, thousands of people have gathered under the roof of St. Patrick’s Church in Terra Haute, Indiana. Oftentimes that aged roof leaked. But today, after the successful installation of new Bellaforté slate roofing tiles, three of the original four structures have new roofs overhead.
Raising the funds for three new roofs for the church’s complex took almost seven years and lots of patience. “The Bellaforté product our team installed perfectly mimics the original asbestos roof on this building,” says Brad Lough, co-owner of Lough Brothers Roofing. “Specially-trained people were brought in to remove the old roof because of the asbestos. After that material was gone, our team was able to quickly and efficiently install the DaVinci Roofscapes product because of the snap-fit, self-locating design of these tiles.”
Lough points out that the uniform look of the tiles, plus the blend of greens in the Verde tiles, helped make this historic restoration project go smoothly. “This product perfectly replicates the structure’s original roof, but it’s constructed of man-made polymer that will resist all types of weather,” says Lough. “Now that the copper gutters are starting to age and gain a greenish patina, we can really see how beautiful this roof will look for years to come.”
Four of the original buildings at St. Patrick’s were made of limestone more than a century ago. “The towering chapel now has a crowning cap on top with the new roof,” says Lough. “We completed the reroofing of three of the four original buildings.
“I give the DaVinci products and their technical support team an A+ in every way. We had plenty of support for this work along with installation training. This one experience with the Bellaforté product has led me to recommend the DaVinci products for several additional projects.”
Backed by a 50-year warranty, Bellaforté roofing tiles include an integrated rain gutter, leading edge tab and rain dam. The 12-inch slate Bellaforté roofing tiles have achieved some of the strictest testing ratings in the country, including the Miami Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) and Florida Building Code (FBC) qualifications.
Bellaforté roofing tiles use twenty percent less material than traditional synthetic and natural slate shingles, saving resources and reducing the tile weight. A square of Bellaforté roofing tile weighs just 185 pounds, helping reduce both installation time and landfill load due to reduced construction waste.
