I have old Chicago brick on my home. It is a 2 story, ranch style home. Changing the roof color, and then the trim color. Roof is not just a big square, its 70’s style, not a super attractive roof line. Charcoal gray? Brown is safe choice, but too boring? Our brick has pink cast.
Product: Good quality shingle
I think you are on the right track with your thinking. A dark gray could be a possibility but just be careful not to go with too cool (bluish) gray that will look even cooler against your bricks. What you want is something with a warm tone but agree that the “same old brown” could seem predictable.
Go with a single color or no more than two variations of the same color (light, medium or dark) so not to create another pattern that could compete with the brick. Look for a color that blends with the tones in your brick but is more neutral than the overall color of your brick. I would look at the colors Mountain or Tahoe. Both would have the depth of the Charcoal gray you mention yet lean towards the warmer tones in your brick. I don’t think either of these colors would be described as boring brown and could look great on your home.
Also since you don’t see too much of your roof, I think you might like the look of the single width Valoré.
I hope that helps you to make your selection.
