Turret Packages from DaVinci Roofscapes

KANSAS CITY, KAN. – Rather than scratch their heads in frustration, architects, roofers, builders and remodelers are now embracing the opportunity to create customized turrets for their commercial and residential projects. Thanks to the DaVinci Turret Package, mastering a turret roof structure is now a painless, trouble-free project.

“We can create a custom engineered package for any turret,” says Ray Rosewall, president and CEO of DaVinci Roofscapes. “All we need are four dimensions. Once we know the distance from the peak of the turret to the edge of the drip cap, the turret pitch, the turret cap length and the coursing exposure, we will engineer and produce a customized DaVinci Turret Package. That package includes starter tiles, numbered field bundles that are custom engineered for each course, and a turret map diagram.”

Easy Installation

At Stage I of the installation, the roofer follows the turret map diagram to install the synthetic slate or shake starter roofing tiles to the bottom of the turret. Moving up the cone to the middle, the transfer bundles (some of which are pre-cut) are installed during Stage II. At Stage III of the installation, smaller width shingles that are pre-cut for the smaller radius toward the top of the cone are secured in place.

“We had never done a turret installation with synthetic roofing tile before, but we found the process was exceptionally easy using the DaVinci Turret Package,” says Greg Petty, head of sales for Prate Installations, Inc. in Wauconda, Ill. “For a turret designed for a local bank, we simply supplied DaVinci with the dimensions needed and they sent back the customized materials and diagram needed.

“As with anything new, at first the process was a bit slow. But, once we caught on and saw how easily the installation steps were mapped out for us, we picked up speed. Everything was formulated for each coursing row, including pre-cut tiles that were labeled for each row according to the dimensions we provided. It’s actually like putting a puzzle together. In the end, everyone was extremely impressed with the finished product.”

In business since 1974, Prate Installations, Inc. relies on DaVinci roofing tiles for a wide variety of projects. “There are many advantages to using these synthetic tiles,” says Petty. “From the durability of the tiles to the return-on-investment for the owner, we believe it’s an advantage for both commercial and residential projects to have this roof. Now that we’re familiar with how easy it is to install the turrets with the DaVinci product, we’re eager to tackle more of these projects in the future.”
