Women in Construction … and Roofing

Welcome to Women in Construction Week! All across the U.S.A. there are thousands of women actively involved in the construction industry — including in the roofing industry.

Whether up on the roof installing composite slate tiles or in the office working in accounting or human resources, women are a valuable part of the roofing industry.

women in roofing industry“We have distribution and manufacturing operations where women work as roof technicians, plus those who work in the plants, marketing, sales and CEOs,” says Heidi Ellsworth, with the National Women in Roofing organization. “There are 900 women in our group. These professionals are sharing their work experiences with each other and looking for companies that embrace diversity.”

Ellsworth, who is a leader at RoofersCoffeeShop.com, relates that the National Women in Roofing group focuses on attracting women who will bring diverse backgrounds, talents and experiences to the roofing industry. The organization offers mentoring and networking opportunities along with learning programs to help women advance their careers in roofing.

“This organization is all about empowering women in the roofing industry to grow in their careers and be a strong voice in the roofing industry,” says Ellsworth. “It’s not that different from women in construction. We are all committed to working together for diversity and empowerment instead of competing with each other.”

Women at DaVinci

women in roofing industryClose to home at DaVinci Roofscapes, we have a number of outstanding women working at our company headquarters in Lenexa, Kansas. These “women in roofing” have provided support to countless roofing projects throughout the country for almost 20 years.

“Our customer service team, architectural support and marketing efforts all involve talented women who have many years of experience in the roofing industry,” says Wendy Bruch, marketing manager for DaVinci Roofscapes. “We all feel a great dedication to the work we do every day that supports our company and the industry overall.

“However, it’s more than just the ‘front office’ team at DaVinci who are part of the roofing industry. We have talented women on the manufacturing floor making our composite roofing products every day.

“Women are involved in the inventory process, the shipping operations and the samples department activities. These women work side-by-side with their male co-workers to assure that we’re producing top-quality products for our customers.”
