2010 Roofing Round-Up
KANSAS CITY, KAN. – If homeowners had a theme song dedicated to their re-roofing projects in 2010, it would most likely be Frank Sinatra's "I Did It My Way." Year-end research at DaVinci Roofscapes® shows that the most popular selling product for the polymer slate and shake roofing tile company in 2010 was the creation of custom color slate roofing blends by homeowners wishing to personalize their home.
"Homeowners really appreciate the ability to create their own custom color blends using a multitude of our individually-colored tiles," says Wendy Bruch, marketing manager for DaVinci Roofscapes. "Their creativity and requests for unique color blends have actually inspired us to create a variety of new blends that will be introduced in 2011."
From the wide assortment of available color blends offered by DaVinci, more than 60 percent of consumers seeking out synthetic shake tiles in 2010 chose either the Autumn or Mountain blends. Featuring a mixture of four different colors (Light Autumn, Medium Light Autumn, Medium Autumn and Dark Autumn), the Autumn blend closely replicates real wood roofing shakes. The Mountain blend includes Light Mountain, Medium Mountain and Dark Mountain synthetic shakes for a rustic, woody look.
Along with a desire for adding unique color blends to their roofs, homeowners embraced synthetic roofing tiles in greater numbers in 2010 for the product's resistance to severe weather, fire and hail. "With the extreme storms that pummeled the Midwest this year, homeowners are ready to switch to polymer roofing products that resist Mother Nature's temper," says Bruch.
Backed by a 50-year warranty, DaVinci's synthetic roofing tiles resist curling, rot and insect infestation. Both the shake and slate polymer tiles are made from 100 percent pure resins and have inorganic colors and pigments infused throughout each tile.
Looking Ahead to 2011
"If we were to gaze into a crystal ball for 2011, I believe we'd see multi-width synthetic slate products continue to drive our sales," says Mark Hansen, vice president of sales for DaVinci Roofscapes. "The Bellaforté snap-fit slate tiles will also continue to grow in popularity. This is a cost-effective product for homeowners that we believe will see a marked increase in demand next year."
The patented self-locating Bellaforté roofing tiles include an integrated rain gutter, leading edge tab and rain dam. The 12-inch slate Bellaforté tiles have achieved some of the strictest testing ratings in the country, including the Miami Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) and Florida Building Code (FBC) qualifications.
Bellaforté roofing tiles use twenty percent less material than traditional synthetic and natural slate shingles, saving resources and reducing the tile weight. A square of Bellaforté roofing tile weighs just 185 pounds, helping reduce both installation time and landfill load due to reduced construction waste.
"DaVinci will introduce a dramatic increase in color blend options in the Bellaforté line in 2011," says Hansen. "This is in direct response to homeowner requests for roofing products that are cost-effective with the additional benefits of supplying more style and personality to homes.
"Homeowners nationwide will soon have an option of eight different standard color blends to select from in the Bellaforté line, making it possible for them to create a custom home and 'do it my way' from the top of the roof down on their homes."
