DaVinci Slate Roof Complements Stone Exterior of Home

Every day Brad VanWeelden drove by the construction site of a sprawling new estate close to his office in Iowa. The structure was progressing beautifully — except it definitely needed a quality roof overhead.

“We were thrilled when the homeowners contacted us,” says VanWeelden, president of VanWeelden Co. “The scale and architecture of the home are amazing. There’s a very large main home, a pool house, garden shed and a detached garage with a covered roof walkway to the house. This has the feeling of an Italian estate and sits beautifully on several acres of land.”

After working with the designer, architect and homeowners extensively to find the roofing product that would best complement the stone exterior on the house, an order was placed for DaVinci Slate in a Slate Gray color.

“This color and product perfectly accent this home,” says VanWeelden. “I think the homeowners were very impressed with the Class A fire rating of the DaVinci product. The lower risk of fire than with a wood roof, combined with the aesthetic offerings and warranty really sealed the deal for them.

“We install several DaVinci Roofscapes composite roofs each year, so our team had a high comfort level in the selection of this product for the home.”

Something that wasn’t as comfortable was the weather. The timing of the project required much of the roofing work be done from December to February. That’s a cold time of year in Iowa for roofing.  While there were some days when the weather didn’t cooperate, the VanWeelden crew got the job done on time.

“The entire VanWeelden team provided a professional and high-quality service from the beginning to the end of our project,” says the homeowner. “They were respectful of both the property and the other sub-contractors on site.

“This is our forever home. The VanWeelden team understood that this was not just a house, it was a home.  They understood that we are emotionally invested in the project and respected our wishes.”
