Cedar Shake Roofs Can’t Withstand Hail
It took just an intense 10-minute storm to ruin the outside of Mike and Laura Farrington’s home. Hail the size of golf balls damaged their aluminum siding and destroyed the real cedar shake shingles overhead.
For the Farringtons, finding a reliable, quality company to help them deal with the insurance company made life a bit easier after the storm.
“The folks at Elite Home Restoration came by and inspected both the roof and our siding,” says Mike Farrington. “The exterior was beyond repair. Next they worked with our State Farm agent to get us full insurance benefits to reside and re-roof the house, including a new gutter system.”
Composite Shakes Gain Approval
The HOA of the small community where the Farringtons live has always required hand-cut cedar shake shingles on homes. Not anymore. Following the storm, those rules were changed to include the approved use of composite shake shingles.
“Once the Elite team found out composite shakes were allowed in our subdivision they introduced us to the synthetic shakes from DaVinci Roofscapes,” says Farrington. “We love them. The idea of having impact- and maintenance-free roofing that looks like real shake but makes our lives easier is so appealing.”
Following the installation of Bellaforté Shake tiles on the home in an Autumn blend, Farrington watched neighbors replace their roof with real cedar shakes. “The real cedar looks good now, but in a few years we know it won’t look that attractive,” says Farrington. “Plus, if there’s another hail storm that comes through our area, we’ll rest easy … I’m not sure our neighbors will be able to do the same.”
Surpassing Real Cedar Shakes
In business serving the Chicagoland area and southern Wisconsin for the past six years, the team at Elite Home Restoration enthusiastically recommends DaVinci composite roofing to their customers.
“For the Farrington house, we brought the display for DaVinci products right to them,” says Samantha Staron, CFO of Elite Home Restoration. “Once their HOA made the change in the ruling, the homeowners were very open to this composite product.”
Bellaforté Shake roofing tiles feature the look of hand-split cedar shakes with slanted sawn edges and staggered lengths. The one-inch tile thickness of Bellaforté Shake tiles make them reminiscent of jumbo cedar shakes, but without the hassles.
Each Bellaforté tile resists curling, cracking, fungus, algae, fading, mold and insects. Best of all, DaVinci composite roofing tiles are Class A fire rated, Class 4 impact rated and feature a Lifetime Limited Materials Warranty. And, a leading edge tab secures every tile to provide strong wind resistance — up to 110 mph.
“Our customers love the features and look of the DaVinci product while our installers love the installation process for Bellaforté,” says Staron. “It goes up easily and moves the project along quickly.
“We have nothing but rave reviews about DaVinci across all avenues of our company. We’re exceptionally pleased to have several more projects coming up soon with the same composite roofing product.”
