Shaking Up an Alabama Home
When Jeremy and Kristina Hollingsworth purchased their new home in a Birmingham, Alabama suburb earlier this year, they knew the roof would be the first major change they made. Even before moving into their American Contemporary style home, they had a new Bellaforté Shake roof installed.
“I’ve seen the DaVinci polymer roofing tiles for years at building industry trade shows and was adamant that I wanted their composite shake roof on our home,” says Jeremy Hollingsworth, publisher of Extreme How-To magazine. “We get some pretty intense storms in Alabama and I knew these impact-resistant roofing tiles would help safeguard my home and family.”
“This home previously had asphalt shingles that were wearing away. With the 50-year limited warranty on my new Bellaforté Shake tiles I’ll never have to replace this roof again. That’s a winning situation for myself and future owners of this home!”
With a variety of steep roof angles and multiple turrets, the home’s roof gains high visibility overall on the house. To help select the best color options for the shake shingle roofing product, Jeremy sought the assistance of national color expert Kate Smith.
“We worked on my favorite ‘top down’ color selection procedure to determine that the Verona blend was perfect for this home,” says Smith, president of Sensational Color. “This home already had terrific shades of grays and whites in the stone front of the house. The four shades of Weathered Gray in this blend complement the light exterior of the home and tie together the entire home’s appearance from the top down!”
The entire step-by-step installation process, done by contractor Jim Butters and the team at Four Hearts LLC, was reported in the October issue of Extreme How-To. Click HERE for a link to the story with detailed pictures and installation instructions.
