Continuing the Tradition: Colors Found Only in the USA
Slate has been found around the globe but when it comes to color one small region right here at home in the USA is considered The Colored Slate Capital of the World. This region known as Slate Valley is about six miles wide and extends approximately twenty-four miles along the New York/Vermont border from Granville, NY and Rupert, VT north to Fair Haven, VT.
In this area, the chemical and mineral composition of the vein of slate produces a rare variety of colors – green, gray, gray black, purple, mottled green and purple, and red. The Slate Valley is the only place in the world where this natural variety of colors could be found.
Fast forward a hundred plus years to today and you’ll find The Colored Polymer Slate Capital of the world in another part of the United States — Kansas City home to DaVinci Roofscapes.
The desire for the distinctive appearance and natural colors of slate that the USA is known for along with the need to overcome slate’s inherent imperfections led DaVinci to develop a line of synthetic slate roofing materials with all of the beauty of natural slate shingles but none of the shortcomings.
Homeowners can choose from a variety of standard DaVinci blends, or use our virtually limitless color palette to create their own unique look. There are 49 standard colors, which can be mixed and matched to create custom patterns. It is hard to imagine with that many choices anyone could find just the color they are looking for, but DaVinci does have the capability to create a custom color or match almost any color.
