Roof Color For Historic Paint Color Schemes (Part 1)

Looking back to historic color combinations is a great way to find a perfect paint color scheme even if your home is new. But just because you’ve chosen colors seen in a time gone by for the body of your home it doesn’t mean that the same is the best choice for your roof color.

Today, simulated shake roofing comes in a variety of colors that can make your historic color scheme a modern day standout. To show you some examples of what I would recommend I’ve pulled some schemes from California Paints historic palettes and matched them to the DaVinci Roofscapes composite shake color or color blend I think works best.

The reason these updated colors work beaufitully with the historic paint colors is that the roofing colors are based on colors that come from nature.  The historic colors originally were also formulated using natural materials so both have an earthy quality the ties the colors

One of the qualities that I like most about working with the plastic roofing materials rather than the natural wood shake is that it retains the original color.  With these products you don’t have to be concerned with the color changing as it ages and no longer matching the colors you have chosen for the rest of your home as well as it did originally.
