A New Roof Overhead

Slate RoofAt Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey, there’s a new Activity and Athletic Center sporting a DaVinci synthetic slate roof.

Dedicated in June of 2009, Hardwick Hall houses squash courts, a pool, student cafe, wrestling rooms, a locker facility and performance gyms. Atop the 90,421-square foot structure is a synthetic slate roof that complements the other buildings on the historic campus.

"We selected DaVinci Roofscapes synthetic slate roofing tiles with confidence for this project," says Glenn G. Gorlich, R.A. of HQW Architects LLC. "We needed to specify a product that would complement the existing real slate roofs throughout the campus buildings but require minimal maintenance.

"It’s amazing how perfectly these synthetic tiles harmonize with the existing real slate on the squash court building. It was essential that we match up the old structure with the new building’s designer roof. We’re all very pleased with the results."
