We hear it all the time. From homeowners who know their real wood shake roof needs to be replaced. However, they don’t want to lose the look of cedar roofing on their home. DaVinci Roofscapes to the rescue.
The authentic, realistic look of hand-split shake shingles shines through in every DaVinci tile. Whether it’s Select Shake, Bellaforté Shake, Multi-Width or Single-Width Shake, there’s a natural appearance to each piece. That’s because our molds are taken from real cedar shake profiles. Therefore, our roofing tiles look just like real wood shakes.
However, that’s where the similarities stop.
DaVinci synthetic shake shingles are made of a composite material (polyethylene) containing virgin resins, UV and thermal stabilizers, as well as a highly-specialized fire retardant. This makes our products fire- and impact-resistant. In addition, our tiles resist curling, splitting, cracking and fading. After that, they resist pesky insects, fungus and algae growth.
Select Shake, Black Oak
Here’s a great example of homeowners loving their real cedar roof, but wanting to make a change. The Schmidt family perfectly fits the mold.
“We were replacing our cedar roof and wanted something similar in appearance,” says Richard Schmidt, a Delaware homeowner. “The old cedar roofing was deteriorating. Keeping it updated required a lot of maintenance.
“Lisa and I decided to invest in a Select Shake roof because of its realistic appearance. The durability of the synthetic material also won us over.”
The stone colonial home the Schmidt family lives in was built in 1929. Over the years there were additions to the property. Overhead, the real cedar shakes were deteriorating, pulling down the look of the home.
“The curb appeal on our house has definitely improved with the DaVinci roofing,” says Schmidt. “Our next door neighbor likes it so much he may get the same composite shake when he re-roofs his home!”
Schmidt’s reaction to his new roof doesn’t surprise roofer Scot Schwartz.
“This family loved the look of their cedar roof,” says Schwartz, with R&R Roofing and Remodeling. “However, they knew it was time for a change. I’ve heard this before from other homeowners. People want a roof that will both last a lifetime … and look great for a lifetime. DaVinci was definitely the answer for Lisa and Rich.”
Schwartz and his team expect to install up to 15 DaVinci roofs in the coming year throughout Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
“The product value and appearance speak for themselves,” says Schwartz. “Homeowners looking for a long-term roofing investment with minimal maintenance really seem to ‘connect’ to the composite shakes from DaVinci.”
