Life Lesson: Get a Composite Roof

After a storm damaged their previous roof, these homeowners took their roofer's advice and chose a worry-free composite slate roof from DaVinci.
Here’s a life lesson: Listen to your friends. And your roofer.

That’s exactly what John Orrell did when hail and wind severely damaged his roof. Now he has a worry-free composite slate roof. And he’s grateful to both his friends and his roofer for pointing him toward DaVinci Roofscapes.

“Jonathan Shaw explained why DaVinci was a better product,” says Orrell, a resident of Colleyville, Texas. “Then I spoke with friends who had their roofs replaced. They used DaVinci and were very happy with their composite roofs. The Lifetime Limited Material Warranty offered by the company is just one of the reasons I chose DaVinci.”

Protection from Mother Nature

When Shaw first met with the Orrells, he could tell the existing roof was in bad shape. “It was 18 years old and looked terrible,” says Shaw, with SPC Construction and Roofing. “The storm damage was the final ‘nail in the coffin’ for this roof.

“I could easily envision that a DaVinci composite roof would be a perfect fit for this home. The authentic slate look combined with its impact resistancy can’t be beat. This roof protects the house from Mother Nature.”

Shaw should know. He and his talented team have been putting up DaVinci composite slate and shake roofs since 2008. Depending on the storms that hit the Dallas/Fort Worth area, they install upwards of 20 DaVinci composite roofs a year.

Once the Orrells decided on DaVinci Single-Width Slate roofing, they next chose their roofing color. “We had a gray tile previously,” says Orrell. “However, the Castle Gray from DaVinci was a little lighter than what we had before. This color brightens up the house exterior a bit.”

DaVinci tiles are made of pure virgin resins, UV and thermal stabilizers plus a highly-specialized fire retardant. The resulting composite tiles endure in any climate. The 12-inch wide single-width tiles chosen for this project are ½-inch thick. Modeled from actual slate, they resist rotting, fading, cracking and insects. They also resist algae and fungus growth.

The steep roof installation went smoothly for the SPC Construction & Roofing team. They fabricated the flashings for the project along with copper accents.

“We didn’t have any surprises during installation, which is just great,” says the homeowner. “Once they had the product they stayed on the timeline we discussed. They protected our property by placing plywood over bushes and plants. Plus there were tarps out to catch debris. This was a great roofing team that I’d absolutely recommend to family and neighbors.”

Composite Slate Makes Amazing Difference

With his worry-free composite slate roof complete, Orrell is ready to offer others the same advice he received.

“It’s amazing the difference the DaVinci roof has made,” says Orrell. “It’s hard to describe unless you’ve seen the before-and-after photos. This composite roof has added significantly to our home’s value and curb appeal.

“In addition, as long as we live here we won’t have to worry about our roof and future storms. That’s given us greater peace of mind.”

With their home protected thanks to a worry-free composite slate roof from DaVinci, these homeowners can rest easy during the next bad storm.
