Synthetic Shake Siding on Gables

Dents and pockmarks are a thing of the past for this homeowner thanks to the synthetic shake siding now protecting their gables.
Just four years after moving into his new home, Tom Feller’s real cedar siding failed. Hail left dents and pockmarks. Stains and color variations left the siding unattractive. All of which left Feller frustrated.

When similar situations happen on the roof, at least it’s not easily seen from the street. But in this case, the real cedar siding was visible on all four sides of Feller’s home. Enough was enough. The Montana homeowner went online. He searched for weather/hail resistant cedar and synthetic shake siding materials. That web search led him to DaVinci Roofscapes.

Synthetic Shake Solutions

“We chose to invest in DaVinci for a number of reasons,” says Feller. “First was the proven durability to weather conditions and events. Then the color selection. We also appreciate the stability of the product. Next, the authentic appearance. There’s a texture to the Hand-Split Shake Siding that’s very realistic.

“My wife Carol and I also appreciate the Lifetime Limited Material Warranty. And, we were impressed with the DaVinci Customer Service Department. They were helpful in providing sample shakes in a variety of colors.”

Feller used the samples DaVinci sent him to create a mock-up gable section. He presented it to the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) to touch and feel. The products were so appealing that the ARC very quickly approved the addition of composite materials to his home.

These homeowners customized the color of their synthetic shake siding, giving their home a crisp, bespoke touch. Customized Color; Durable Shake

The next step came when Feller and his wife chose a color for their composite shake siding. They decided to create a custom blend of 50 percent Light Autumn mixed with 50 percent Medium Autumn. The color blend felt perfect to them for accenting their home.

Dave Zuzero with Z-Works came to install the synthetic shake siding. According to Feller, Zuzero was meticulous in the installation work.

The final result? A show-stopping house that draws attention from neighbors and visitors. And, since being installed several years ago, has held up wonderfully.

“The DaVinci shake product has been through numerous weather events,” says Feller. “This includes hail along with winter/summer seasons. It’s held up beautifully. The color, durability and appearance of the shakes haven’t varied from when they were first installed.

“Most people are surprised to hear the shakes are composite and very rugged. Quite often, our house is described as cute. We’ll take that!”
