Under Rehab: New Jersey Dream Home

By this time next year, Sunny Lim and her family will be living in their dream home. First though, their 2,000+ square foot New Jersey house must undergo extensive renovations and some additions. From the rooftop to the basement, remodeling is underway.

“We call it gut renovating,” says Lim. “Every aspect of the house is being updated before we move in. Truly everything needs to be replaced except the brick exterior and the rafters!”

Top Down Renovation

The house, built almost a century ago, is long overdue for some TLC.

Tops on the list is the rooftop. When the family purchased the 1925 home, they could tell the old asphalt roof had seen better days. The homeowners wanted a more distinguished look for their roof. That’s when they started their online search for roofing alternatives.

“We found DaVinci Roofscapes on Google,” says Lim. “The beauty of the DaVinci Multi-Width Slate really interests us. The tiles are so realistic looking. As we did our research, we learned about the low maintenance and longevity of this composite slate material. Those aspects are very appealing.

“Once we saw samples of the Smokey Gray color, we knew we had a winner. This color is the perfect hue of grayish blue to match our future hardscapes. In addition, it looks simply beautiful with the brick exterior!”

Roofing Dreams Come True

To make their roofing dreams come true, the family hired Blue Nail Roofing and Siding. The team installed the DaVinci roofing and new copper gutters.

“The Blue Nail team was very helpful from start to finish,” says Lim. “They were very professional. Every aspect of the roof looks just beautiful.”

Although the roof overhead is ready, the rest of the house still needs work. In the meantime, every time the family visits the “in progress” work they get more excited.

“From the turret to the dormers to the jet-out alcoves, we can tell this roof has been expertly installed,” says Lim. “We’re all looking forward to when we can live in this beautiful dream home with our dream roof overhead!”
