The Club at Wynstone is a very particular community. With its five-star reputation, the full-service private lifestyle club is very choosey about its property. That’s why, when a hailstorm destroyed the roof overhead, finding a cedar shake roof replacement was an important task.

“From an aesthetics perspective we wanted a cohesive look,” says General Manager Jason Waters, PGA, at The Club at Wynstone.

Located in Barrington, Illinois, the complex previously had real cedar shake roofing on a variety of buildings. The hailstorm was the chance to upgrade the deteriorating roofs.

“We took the opportunity to consider our options,” says Waters. “A number of resident members had replaced their roofs with the DaVinci Roofscapes product in recent years. They were pleased with their results.

“The composite roof was approved as an option for the Property Owners Association (POA) a few years back. Expansive Complex

Opened in 1989, The Club includes the clubhouse, pool and tennis buildings. Those structures needed new roofs, as did the starters hut, range shed, halfway house and scoreboard. All of these are located on the grounds of the highly acclaimed Jack Nicklaus Signature Design golf course.

“We chose the Mountain blend color for the Select Shake tiles on all the structures to give us a unified appearance,” says Waters. “We’ve been very pleased that the new roofing has made all the structures look fresher. The clubhouse especially appears newer following the re-roofing job.”

Expert Roofing for the Project

The Club brought in the team from Expert Roofing to coordinate the cedar shake roof replacement project. The crew worked many months while operations at The Club continued.

“The work progressed well with Expert Roofing,” explains Waters. “There are details that needed to be incorporated into the project, like snow guards. These things take time and we wanted to do it right.

“It’s important to us that the roofing throughout The Club be low maintenance. We don’t want to worry about long-term maintenance issues in the future, so getting the work done properly up front was a key priority for all of us.
